Zero Accountability

Ontario Animal Welfare Services (AWS) provides an online complaint tool so members of the public are able to make a formal complaint about an AWS Inspector. This complaint tool is available on the Ministry of the Solicitor General website.

Today, I received a response from AWS Chief Melanie Milczynski regarding a complaint I made about 2 of her inspectors. One of those inspectors is a senior regional inspector. The lack of care and action these 2 inspectors showed regarding horses with horrendous injuries makes me both spitting mad and sick to my stomach.

BACKGROUND

Stephanie Redlick is well known in the Ontario equine world as a horse abuser and money scammer. She has over 15 alias’s.

In early February 2025 AWS was called to a stable in Oro Medonte (around Horseshoe Valley) about many horses (there were 20 horses) in very poor conditions. AWS hotline was called – AWS never showed up. Two OPP officers did show up and took photos and immediately reached out to AWS to attend to this location…never did.

Four days later on February 8 Stephanie moved 16/20 horses to a field in Port Perry. Before moving she surrendered 4 of the horses to someone offering to help. Not long afterwards 1 of the horses had to humanely euthanized.

AWS DID NOT SHOW UP UNTIL FEBRUARY 11 AND THEY LEFT THE HORSES TO CONTINUE SUFFERING EVEN AFTER INDICATING THAT 5/16 WERE IN DISTRESS

AWS did not return for 8 days!!!! The next day the animals were removed.

To date – Stephanie is facing NO animal cruelty charges criminally or via the PAWS Act.

I filed a formal complaint against the 2 inspectors claiming misconduct and neglect of duty to protect these animals and get them appropriate vet care.

Today, AWS Chief Melanie Milczynski responded to me:

I responded to her:

Just so everyone understand the severity of just one of these injuries that AWS were aware of for 2 weeks and DID NOTHING:
