While Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) does a 180 degree flip on whether they will/will not be investigating the 2 Animal Control officers in the centre of Heiniu’s death…
The Town infers in a public statement that the 2 AC officers rushed Heiniu to an emergency vet… HE WAS ALREADY DEAD!!!!
The Town infers that one of the AC needed medical care at the hospital after Heiniu bit her… however, she was asked on scene by YRP and a witness did she need medical care, a bandaid perhaps… her reply “no”
This behaviour is beyond disgusting!!!!
The Corporation of the Town of Aurora circles the wagons to protect itself from reputational harm and litigation.
The Mayor of Aurora has been given “strong mayor powers” by the province of Ontario.
This grants the Mayor – Tom Mrakas authority independent of Council consensus.
- dissolving committees, hiring/firings, public engagement etc…
PSST… heads up, the reputational harm part is already well underway!
Trust is fast evaporating.
The town are NOT demonstrating that they truly want to find out:
- the truth of what happened.
- did 2 of their highly paid AC officers kill this dog?
- are their AC officers overpaid and under trained?
- address lapses in training.
Why can’t they even announce the structure of this “independent review process”????
Nearly 2 weeks since Heiniu was brutally treated, inflicting over 1 hour of suffering and distress resulting in his death… the Town of Aurora HAS YET to tell the taxpayers and more importantly Heiniu’s family what this “review” looks like.
