We continue to get many messages from people pushing back at some of our posts on social media. And I mean really pushing back. Telling us we are liars, we are spreading mistruths about the state of animal protections in Ontario, that we are too hard on the government.
We get messages from people telling us our content is “upsetting” and should be taken down. To that we say: it is upsetting, very upsetting. And we are hoping as someone who professes to love animals you will join us in the outrage that we feel. That you will use this outrage and become engaged and involved in demanding changes.
What is so shocking these messages are from self proclaimed animal lovers, in animal specific FB groups.
Our posts are deeply researched before we post we can assure you.
Look at the public outrage that has happened over the animal testing at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London. People and media completely out of minds with disbelief.
But why the disbelief?
For 35 years, Ontario has had legislation that allows this testing. And not just on rats and mice. But on dogs and cats!
And not just at St. Jospeh’s in London….but everywhere in this province!
Ontario’s Animal for Research Act has existed since 1990.

The legislation clearly lays out the testing boundaries and where these animals may be “sourced from”. And that includes animal controls and pounds. They can “source” cats and dogs from these places and use them in their experiments.
While Premier Doug Ford stood in front of the people of Ontario and claimed disgust and disbelief that beagles were being used in these horrific cardiac experiments….it is his bloody legislation that permits it and eases the way to sourcing these animals.
And PENNED HUNTING. Yes – penned hunting. Ontario is the ONLY province that allows such barbaric “sport”. In fact last year, Doug Ford lifted the 1997 ban on the issuance of new penned hunting (aka Train & Trial) facility licenses. THE ONLY PROVINCE IN CANADA!
Unless we get out of our bubbles and help our friends and loved ones get out of their bubbles, significant improvements for animals will never happen.
