My name is Yang Yu. I am Heiniu’s legal owner, and he was part of our family.
On May 4, 2026, Heiniu died during Animal Services / Animal Control handling in the East Gwillimbury / Holland Landing area.
He was our dog.
He was deeply loved.
We are not here to rush to conclusions.
Before the necropsy results are complete, before official records have been reviewed, and before the relevant evidence has been examined through the proper process, we will not make final legal conclusions about any individual or institution.
But we will not stay silent.
We will share, step by step, what our family personally witnessed, what records show, and what questions still need to be answered.
We are preserving and organizing relevant materials, including witness accounts, videos, photos, veterinary records, and official communications.
Out of respect for witness privacy, legal process, and investigative integrity, we will release materials carefully and responsibly.
Our family’s requests are simple:
The full truth.
A complete and accurate timeline.
Preservation of all records by all parties.
An independent and thorough investigation.
That Heiniu not be mischaracterized.
If the evidence shows procedural failures, policy issues, training concerns, or other responsibility, those issues must be acknowledged and addressed through the proper process.
Based on what our family witnessed, witness accounts, and the veterinary records available to us, we do not believe there is any basis to describe Heiniu as an aggressive dog.
He was our family.
This is for him.
It is also for every family that should never have to go through something like this.
Today, we lost our Heiniu. Without truth, accountability, and change, similar pain could happen to another family.
Truth for Heiniu.
