Each year thousands lost and abandoned dogs/cats are sold from pounds to research facilities !!!!
The Animals for Research Act in Ontario makes this practice mandated by law.
Under the Ontario Research Act…it is legal !
These creatures endure pain, suffering and distress. When no longer useful…they are killed.
This is Ontario folks !!!!!
Proponents of this legislation…let’s call it “the Act” will claim that it requires that all research involving animals undergo rigorous ethical review by institutional animal care committees. That the committees involved are tasked with evaluating the scientific merit of proposed studies, ensuring that the potential benefits justify any impact on the animals involved blah blah blah. And….that Ontario Animal Research Act also promotes transparency and accountability in the research community, mandating reporting of animal use and adherence to established welfare standards blah blah blah.
But at the end of the day…
Lost, strays and surrendered dogs and cats are sold from pounds to be used in experiments.
And those animals suffer horrendously. They suffer distress, physical and emotional pain.
This is an archaic approach to medical research and we can do better….SO MUCH BETTER.

Ive been an animal advocate all of my life. I want to share all of this information. But this post? Doesn’t make it easy for *everyone* to understand what they can do to help! ie: I click on the PAWS link & nothing happens. Make this user friendly!!! Then I will most eagerly share this.
