If you JUST bought the puppy within the last few days – get to the vets. The odds are fairly high the puppy has no vaccinations on board. This leaves them very susceptible to highly contagious and often fatal viruses like parvo, distemper.
NOTE: a puppy can come home, appear absolutely healthy, eating well, playing…then a few days in the puppy crashes. Appears lethargic, not eating the same, some loose stools. By this time, the virus has taken hold and all you can do is have the vet provide supportive care and hope the pup can come through it.
This is priority one, make sure the puppy is testing negative for parvo and get vaccines on board. Have the puppy dewormed and fully examined. Take a screenshot of the sellers ad.
You get past the first two weeks of having the puppy home and all appears well then breath a sigh of relief. Now time to get to work….
