As humans encroach more and more on their habitats the number of animals being injured, orphaned, losing their homes, migration paths and sometimes even their lives is soaring.
More than ever wildlife rehabbers are crucial – absolutely critical to saving animals and endangered species which are vital to a healthy ecosystem.
Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is not overly supportive of wildlife rehabbers. Absolutely they must be licensed, overseen and held accountable to ensure proper care for the animals but to also to provide public health. But they provide a critical service and should be supported as such.
Wildlife rehabilitation receives ZERO government funds. They run on the generosity of donations and maybe if very fortunate some grants. Rehabilitation centres closing due to unsustainability is becoming common place.
We would like to share with the public where to go if you find an animal in need or if you would like to reach out to donate or perhaps even volunteer.
To all you wildlife rehabbers – THANK YOU !!!!!
